Eco Owls awarded the Green Flag Award
Llangan, 8th July 2024 — Llangan Primary School’s Eco Owls team was assessed by Julie Elliot from Keep Wales Tidy for the prestigious Green Flag Award. This award requires schools to meet rigorous criteria, including completing an application form and undergoing an on-site assessment by an Eco-Schools Assessor.
Unlike the Bronze and Silver Awards, which are self-assessed, the Green Flag involves a thorough evaluation of the school’s environmental initiatives. These include effective recycling programs, energy-saving measures, and biodiversity projects integrated into the curriculum.
Achieving the Green Flag status signifies excellence in environmental education and sustainability. Schools must renew their award every two years to maintain this status, ensuring ongoing commitment to these values.
Llangan Primary School aims to achieve Platinum Status by earning the Green Flag four times, demonstrating long-term dedication to environmental stewardship. This status places schools among the best globally in the Eco-Schools programme.
