On Friday, 13th September, we’ll be celebrating Roald Dahl Day! Children are invited to dress up as their favourite Roald Dahl character. Remember, costumes don’t need to be expensive—homemade outfits and props can be just as fun and creative! We’ll have a day full of themed activities, culminating in a fashion parade in the afternoon with prizes for the best costumes.
This week, we launched the Llangan September Reading Challenge! Each child has been given a school-banded book (where appropriate) and a book from their class library, along with a reading record to log their progress. We encourage all children to read as much as possible throughout September.
We are delighted to share details of our extra-curricular Enrichment Programme for this term. All clubs will run from 3:30pm to 4:15pm. At Llangan Primary, we pride ourselves on a ‘no cancellation’ policy, meaning we will not cancel after-school clubs at short notice, except for Football/Rugby Club and Netball Club. If there is a match or fixture, this will take the place of the club’s usual session

Cardiff, 11th July 2024 — The National Indoor Athletic Centre (NIAC) in Cardiff was abuzz with excitement on Friday as children from five cluster schools gathered for the much-anticipated Cluster Olympics. This event brought together young athletes to compete in various track and field events, celebrating the Olympic values of friendship, excellence, and respect.
Llangan, 18th July 2024 — Llangan Primary School celebrated the graduation of its Nursery class on Thursday, 18th July, in a heartwarming event attended by parents and staff. The young graduates delighted everyone with a special performance and were awarded medals and certificates to mark this significant milestone.

Llangan, 8th July 2024 — Llangan Primary School’s Eco Owls team was assessed by Julie Elliot from Keep Wales Tidy for the prestigious Green Flag Award. This award requires schools to meet rigorous criteria, including completing an application form and undergoing an on-site assessment by an Eco-Schools Assessor.
As part of the Plaza’s inquiry for the summer term, we are thrilled to share a wonderful achievement by three of our exceptional pupils who recently took part in an innovative engineering project under the Primary Engineers Rail Programme. This initiative aims to nurture young minds in the field of engineering, and our pupils have truly excelled. Over several weeks, the learners demonstrated remarkable creativity and technical skills by designing and building a battery-powered rail model. They worked diligently, learning the basics of electrical circuits, mechanics, and design principles.
The culmination of their hard work was celebrated at a celebration event at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. This celebration was part of the Primary Engineers Rail Programme, bringing together young engineers from various primary schools across Wales to showcase their projects and share their learning experiences. Our pupils confidently presented their battery-powered rail model, explaining the design process, the challenges they faced, and how they overcame them to real-life engineers. The learners showcased their models by testing how many carriages their models could carry, along with how straight they travelled. In recognition of their outstanding work, Llangan Primary Engineers (LPE) finished runners-up in the competition and were awarded certificates of achievement. Everyone at Llangan Primary is incredibly proud of their achievement and their demonstration of our school’s motto “Climb High, Climb Higher”! Da iawn!
