14.3 - Diving into Science – Exploring Seagrass & Sustainability! 🌊🔬💡

This week, our class has been buzzing with curiosity as we celebrated Science Week! From exploring the wonders of seagrass to investigating renewable energy, we’ve had an exciting time becoming young scientists!

Seagrass & Ocean Explorations

As part of our inquiry learning, we discovered the importance of seagrass and how it helps protect our oceans. The children used a classification key to identify different types of seagrass and explored the impact of ocean helpers and ocean polluters. We had some brilliant discussions about how we can help protect our marine environment!

Renewable Energy & Scientific Investigations

We also explored renewable energy, learning about how wind, water, and solar power can help create a more sustainable future. The children took part in our school-wide science carousel, rotating through different exciting experiments and activities with other classes.

Special Visit – Mrs. Cooper & the ONS

A highlight of our week was a visit from Mrs. Cooper, who gave an engaging talk about the fascinating work of the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The children loved learning about how data is collected and used to help us understand the world around us.

Creative & Literacy Links

In Literacy, we researched facts about seagrass to build our non-chronological reports, developing our writing and fact-finding skills. In Creative time, we made beautiful seagrass collages, bringing the underwater world to life with textures and colours!

Looking Ahead

Next week, we will continue working on our non-chronological reports and explore more about coastal environments. It’s been a week full of discovery, and we can't wait to keep learning!

🔍🌱💙 Da iawn, pawb! Another fantastic week of hands-on learning!
