Jack and the Beanstalk
This week in Dosbarth Pili-Pala, we ventured into the world of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, taking on a range of story-inspired challenges. We designed and labelled treasure maps to guide Jack on his journey and built impressive beanstalks in the construction area that stretched all the way to the giant’s castle. We practised our measuring skills, using hand spans, measuring tapes and rulers to size up both beanstalks and the giant's enormous footprints. The children’s maths skills have really impressed us this week as they confidently tackled finding "one more" and "one less" of a given number. During Welly Wednesday, the children braved the cold to create fireworks using natural materials found in our outdoor areas. In our inquiry lessons, the children’s creativity and imagination has shone as they have completed their first draft for their own traditional tales. From fierce princesses to heroic hamsters, each child has created a unique character and plot for their story. We can't wait to share the final versions soon!
