Dear Families,

What a busy and exciting week it has been here at Llangan Primary School! From unforgettable trips to challenging competitions, our learners have embraced every opportunity to grow, learn, and shine.

Year 6 Residential to Llangrannog Our Year 6 pupils had an incredible time on their residential trip to Llangrannog, joining forces with friends from Llansannor, Colwinston, Southpoint, and Y Bontfaen Primary Schools. The experience provided a perfect setting to strengthen friendships, build confidence, and prepare for their transition to high school. The children took part in a range of thrilling activities, including high and low ropes, quad biking, horse riding, trampolining, swimming, skiing, tobogganing, go-karting, archery, team building, and a cliff walk—all set against the stunning Ceredigion coastline.

We are immensely proud of the children's exemplary behaviour, which was praised by centre staff and fellow schools. A huge thank you to Mrs Heavyside, Mrs Antoniou, and Mrs Jones for their dedication and leadership throughout the trip.

World Maths Day - Mathletics World Challenge On Wednesday, we celebrated World Maths Day by participating in the Mathletics World Challenge. Mathletics is a fantastic resource that supports our learners’ maths development both in school and at home. This global competition challenged our pupils to complete specific tasks, competing against schools across the UK and the world. We are thrilled to share that Year 3 achieved the number 1 spot in the UK at one point! The Hall of Fame results, showing the top Mathletes and the placement of each class, can be viewed on the school app.

Plaza 2 Aquarium Adventure & Plaza 3 Visit to Techniquest On Thursday, children in Plaza 2 (Years 1, 2, and 3) visited Bristol Aquarium, where they deepened their understanding of marine life as part of their inquiry-based learning topic, "Save Our Seas."

On Friday, Plaza 3 (Years 4, 5, and 6) explored Techniquest, delving into exhibits on sustainability while enhancing their scientific knowledge and skills. The trip provided a hands-on, engaging learning experience for all.

Mother’s Day Stall & PTA Update A huge thank you to our incredible PTA for organising the annual Mother’s Day Stall on Friday. The children loved choosing special gifts, and we are so grateful to the PTA members who dedicated their time to sourcing and preparing the gifts and stall. The next PTA event is the Hopa-thon on Friday, 11th April, where children will celebrate the end of term with a bouncy castle and an Easter egg hunt!

Reminders

  • Lost Property: We’ve seen a rise in lost property recently. Please ensure all items, including coats, PE kits, wellies, lunch boxes, and water bottles, are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Unnamed items are stored in the lost property boxes in the link corridor between the main hall and the dinner hall.

  • Toys from Home: Please remember that toys and personal items from home are not permitted in school as they can become distractions and risk being lost or broken.

  • Car Park Safety: To keep everyone safe, please drive at 5 mph, reverse park, and always use the path around the car park.

Upcoming Events

  • Jump Out Day - Llangan Sustainability Summit Join us on Thursday, 10th April, at 2:30 pm for a unique Jump Out Day. Instead of visiting classrooms, we invite parents and families to our Llangan Sustainability Summit in the school hall. Each class will showcase their learning around sustainability, sharing important messages on how we can all live more sustainably. Displays of pupils’ work will be available to view in the dinner hall before presentations begin.

  • Governor Event We warmly invite our governing body members to the Llangan Sustainability Summit. Following the event, a governors’ social gathering will take place in the staff room.

  • Parent Forum The next Parent Forum meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday, 3rd April, at 10 am. We value your input with your year group representative and look forward to productive discussions.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. We’re looking forward to another fantastic week ahead!

Best wishes, Mr Griffiths Headteacher, Llangan Primary School
