Friday 21st March 2025

Dear Llangan Families,

What an action-packed week it’s been — and the sunshine made it even better!

Our Year 5 pupils started the week with an unforgettable residential trip to Morfa Bay from Monday to Wednesday. They tackled adventurous activities like climbing, bodyboarding, and even a muddy assault course — all with big smiles and plenty of enthusiasm.

Beyond the fun, they gained so much from the experience: confidence, teamwork, and memories they’ll treasure forever. Their behaviour was exemplary, and they represented Llangan beautifully. A huge shoutout to Llansannor Primary School, who joined us — this made for a fantastic transition link as our pupils start thinking about the next steps in their education.

Thursday was an exciting day for our youngest learners in Nursery and Reception, who visited Plantasia in Swansea. They got up close with exotic animals and explored different habitats — a truly hands-on experience to deepen their understanding of the world around them.

Meanwhile, our Outdoor Learning sessions made the most of the glorious weather. Pupils were busy den building, labelling veggies with upcycled Welsh slate, weaving, bird spotting, designing water butts, and putting up trellises — all while soaking up the sun. It was heartwarming to see their creativity and teamwork in action. 🌱☀️

Friday brought even more excitement with a visit from Cowbridge Fire Brigade. Year 1/2 and Year 5 took part in engaging fire safety talks, while the whole school had the chance to explore the fire engine and even try out the hose. The smiles on their faces said it all — a big thank you to our local firefighters for making the day so memorable.

Looking ahead, our Year 6 pupils are off to Llangrannog in Ceredigion next week for their residential, joining Year 5 pupils from five other primary schools. This promises to be another brilliant transition experience, packed with adventure and opportunities to make new friends. We can’t wait to hear all about it!

Next week also marks World Maths Day — a chance for our pupils to take part in an exciting global challenge through Mathletics. It’s a fantastic opportunity to see how maths connects us to children all over the world — more information to follow.

Finally, a heartfelt message from Haseena Meunier:

Dear Parents,

I'm feeling overwhelmed with emotion. Your incredible generosity to support my giving page has left me speechless. The donations received have exceeded anything I could have imagined. To know that the children really wanted to help — even sacrificing birthday and pocket money — is truly humbling.

Thanks to your kindness, we now have the opportunity to create lasting, permanent change in Khani's life.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. We have an incredible community here at our school, and it makes me so proud.

I'll be travelling to Pakistan in mid-April, and I promise to share videos and photos documenting exactly how your donations are making a difference. (Get ready for some tears!)

Haseena X

Wishing you all a restful and sunny weekend — you’ve earned it!

Best wishes,

Mr Griffiths Headteacher
