This Week at Llangan
On Monday, we marked Remembrance Day with a whole-school Act of Remembrance. Our Head Boy and Girl led us beautifully in honouring the sacrifices made by so many, including former pupils of Llangan Primary School, during times of war.
Here is the infants Art Club poppy art produced by the children to mark Remembrance Day.
Year 4 Residential
This week, our Year 4 pupils embarked on their very first residential trip! Accompanied by Mrs Jarman-Davies, Mr Howles, and Mrs Jones, the children stayed overnight at the Urdd Centre in Cardiff Bay, joining pupils from Llansannor Primary School for a truly memorable experience.
Residential trips are invaluable for children, helping them build independence, confidence, resilience, and teamwork skills. The Urdd Centre, with its rich history as a National Voluntary Youth Organisation since 1922, provided an incredible backdrop for learning and fun.
The children’s adventures included:
- A scavenger hunt around Cardiff Bay, followed by a thrilling speed boat tour.
- A trip to the cinema to enjoy Paddington 3.
- An evening of Ten Pin Bowling at The Dragon Centre.
- A boat ride around Cardiff Bay and up the River Taff to Bute Park.
- An unforgettable tour of the Principality Stadium, where they explored the royal box, changing rooms, the pitch, and even hosted a press conference.
- A behind-the-scenes visit to BBC Wales, where they learned about broadcasting, met news presenter Clare Summers, and even tried their hand at reading the news and weather live!
It was a fantastic experience for the children, and we are so proud of how they represented Llangan Primary School throughout.
Children in Need
Back at school, we celebrated Children in Need with a pyjama and Pudsey-themed day! Thanks to your generous donations, we raised £155 for this amazing cause.
Outdoor Learning
Outdoor Learning returned to our weekly timetable this week. During the winter months:
- Years 1–6 will have Outdoor Learning on Thursdays.
- Reception will continue on Wednesdays.
Please ensure your child has appropriate clothing, such as waterproofs, wellies, and warm layers, to enjoy the outdoors comfortably.
A Cold Weather Reminder
The weather forecast predicts a cold blast ahead. Please ensure children bring warm coats, hats, and gloves to school. If the weather is dry, we’ll continue to play outside during break and lunch. Children without coats may need to stay inside under supervision.
The Great Llangan Bake Off
On Monday, the Great Llangan Bake Off returns!
- Please bring your bakes to school in the morning and pay the registration fee via ParentPay.
- The PTA has invited grandparents and family members to school in the afternoon for judging.
- Medals will be awarded to the best bakes in each year group.
- After school, parents can purchase cakes in the dinner hall.
We’re looking forward to seeing all your wonderful creations!
