Friday 27 September 2024- Harvest

Dear Parents and Guardians,

What an incredible and action-packed week we've had at Llangan Primary School! It's been a pleasure to see so many fantastic activities and events taking place, each one highlighting the enthusiasm, talent, and dedication of our pupils and staff. I’m excited to share some of this week's highlights with you.

Firstly, a huge congratulations to our School Council on the successful launch of their very first project of the year. They’ve been leading our Harvest Appeal with great enthusiasm, collecting donations for the Vale Foodbank. Their commitment has been truly commendable, and we're proud to see their hard work paying off. In two weeks, the School Council will have the opportunity to visit the Vale Foodbank in Llantwit Major to see firsthand how their efforts make a difference and to lend a helping hand. This experience will be invaluable in teaching our students about compassion and community spirit.

Our Harvest Festival was another shining moment this week! I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all parents, family members, and friends who attended. The children’s performances were simply outstanding, and it was wonderful to see so much effort and creativity from every class.

Following the festival, the PTA hosted a wonderful Macmillan Coffee Morning, which was very well attended by parents, governors, and family members. Your generosity was overwhelming, and we managed to raise a significant amount of money for this worthy cause. A huge thank you to our hardworking PTA members, who went above and beyond to make this event a success. Your dedication to supporting charities and making a positive impact is what makes Llangan Primary School so special.

Looking ahead, next week promises to be just as busy and exciting. A group of our Year 5 and 6 pupils will be representing our school in a football tournament with Yr Urdd – we wish them the best of luck! Our youngest learners in Nursery and Reception are also looking forward to a visit to Brocastle Care Home, where they will have the chance to share stories and songs with the residents – an experience we know will be heartwarming for all involved. Year 1 pupils will have their hearing tests conducted by nurses from Cardiff and the Vale Health Board on Thursday, so please ensure they are prepared for this.

Finally, our outdoor learning sessions will be back in full swing next week, with a highlight being our annual apple pressing event on Thursday. It’s always a wonderful opportunity for the children to engage with nature and learn in a hands-on, fun way, so please ensure they come dressed for the weather!

Thank you all for your continued support and involvement in our school community. It’s your enthusiasm and participation that make Llangan Primary School such a vibrant and nurturing place for our children to learn and grow.

Wishing you a restful weekend.

Warmest regards,

Mr. Griffiths
