Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have had another wonderful week of learning here in Llangan, and I am excited to share some of the highlights with you all.

Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to the School Council for their efforts in collecting donations for the Vale Foodbank in Llantwit Major. The children had the opportunity to witness firsthand the impact of their generosity as they visited the Food Bank and helped to label and sort the donations. It was heart-warming to see our pupils embodying the Llangan Values of thoughtfulness and respect that we strive to instil in them.

Pupils in Y6 visited the Royal Welsh Regimental Museum in Brecon this week for an evacuee experience. The children learnt a lot more about life for children in Wales during World War 2. They represented the school brilliantly.

Additionally, I had the pleasure of meeting with the representatives of our parent forum this week. The parent forum serves as a valuable partnership between parents and the school, providing a platform to share ideas, views, and concerns, as well as make suggestions for improvement. The discussions were brilliant, and I look forward to sharing with you all the outcomes and how we plan to address them as a school community.

One topic that was raised during the parent forum was the reintroduction of PE kits. It is important to note that this requirement is in line with the curriculum expectations and promotes healthy habits and safety during physical activities. We understand that this may cause some inconvenience, but we are committed to working with parents to ensure a smooth transition. The changing facilities have been carefully designed to accommodate the needs of our students, with separate changing areas for boys and girls in the junior classes, and private facilities for Year 6 students. Children in the infant class get changed in class with their teachers' support, where necessary.

Next Friday, the school will celebrate a Rugby World Cup Day on October 13th. Students are encouraged to wear a Welsh Rugby Shirt or red clothing in support of Wales as they compete in the quarter-finals. Alternatively, pupils may choose to wear the shirt of another country they support. It promises to be a day filled with excitement and team spirit.

Lastly, I would like to appeal to all parents and guardians for book donations. If you have any children's reading books that your child has outgrown, we kindly request that you consider gifting them to the school. These books will be a valuable addition to our class libraries and reading scheme, fostering a love for reading amongst our students.

Thank you all for your continued support and cooperation. Together, we can create an environment where our children thrive and reach their full potential.

Warm regards,

James Griffiths
