Friday 5 July
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this newsletter finds you well. As we approach the end of the academic year, I'm excited to share some of the wonderful events and opportunities our children have experienced recently.
This week has been particularly eventful for our students. On Wednesday, our Year 1, 2, and 3 pupils visited Y Bontfaen Primary School in Cowbridge for our cluster Olympics. The children participated in various athletic competitions, representing the colours of the Olympic rings. This visit provided an excellent opportunity for our students to learn more about the Olympics, try different sports, and embody the Olympic value of friendship as they interacted with children from our five cluster schools.
On Tuesday, our school governors took part in a Governor Self-Evaluation Day. They had the chance to explore different aspects of life at Llangan, including a tour of all classes and participation in a school senedd meeting. Each committee shared their work from the past year with the governors, who also examined children's work and spoke with staff. I'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our governors for their unwavering commitment to supporting our school.
I'm thrilled to celebrate the recent success of our summer production of "Grease." Our children in Years 3, 4, 5, and 6 delivered phenomenal performances, showcasing their incredible talents in acting, singing, and dancing. The Year 6 students brilliantly brought the lead characters to life, while the younger students added depth and vibrancy to the ensemble. Congratulations to all involved, especially our Year 6 pupils, and a big thank you to the staff for their guidance and support.
Well done, everyone! We can't wait to see what next year's production will bring!
As part of the production, the PTA provided refreshments and raffle for the audfience which raised £526.56 for the PTA funds. Thank you so much so much for everyones continued support.
Also on Thursday, the children in Key Stage 2 at Llangan Primary School recently participated in a General Election Workshop, where they learnt about the democratic process in our country. They researched various political parties to understand their policies and platforms. Additionally, the students formed their own political parties, collaboratively creating manifestos and delivering speeches.
Unfortunately, due to the weather forecast, we've had to postpone the school's Colour Run from Friday 5th July to Friday 19th July. However, we have some exciting events coming up. Years 4, 5, and 6 will participate in a Cluster Olympics on Friday 12th July at the National Athletics Indoor Centre in Cardiff, competing with other schools in the colours of the Olympic rings.
Next week, our Eco Owls will be taking part in the Green Flag Accreditation on Monday. Additionally, the children will be completing their Sexual Relationship Education lessons and Healthy and Fit lessons.
Lastly, I'd like to inform you that our annual reports will be sent home with the children on Friday 12th July at the end of the school day.
As always, thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for your continued support.
