Friday 7th June 2024

Greetings, everyone! I hope this newsletter finds you well. As we approach the end of another term, I would like to share with you some exciting updates and upcoming events happening within our school community.

Over the past term, our pupils in Years 1 and 2 have been involved in a fascinating Cynefin project with Marlyn from the Arts Council of Wales. This project aimed to explore the rich ethnic history and development of Wales as a multicultural society. Through various activities and interactions with different visitors, the children learned about diverse cultures while honing their artistic skills, self-discipline, and self-motivation. They discovered how we all have unique identities that can be expressed through the arts. You can catch a glimpse of their remarkable work in this video: Y1/2 Arts Council Project Y1/2 Arts Council Project - YouTube . Thank you to all the parents who joined us for the celebration.

On Thursday of this week, our Year 6 pupils had the opportunity to visit Cowbridge Comprehensive School for the first part of their transition to secondary school. They experienced different lessons and gained insights into life at their new school. These visits play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and successful transition to "big school."

As the Paris 2024 Olympic Games approach, our network of cluster schools has decided to come together and celebrate with our very own mini Olympics. On Wednesday, July 3rd, children in Years 1, 2, and 3 will join their peers from Llansannor, St David's, South Point, and Y Bont Faen, where the games will take place. On Friday, July 12th, Years 4, 5, and 6 will compete in a Cluster Olympics event at the National Indoor Athletic Centre in Cardiff. We will share more information with the relevant parents closer to the events.

As part of our cluster of schools' Olympic Celebration, we are holding an Olympic Torch relay, in which a torch made by the nursery children in Llansannor is being transported between the schools. As the torch is passed on, pupil representatives from each school are sharing information about the Olympics. On Friday, we welcomed pupils from Llansannor who had walked to our school.

On Friday of next week, the PTA is holding a Father's Day stall in school, giving the children the opportunity to purchase gifts for their dads.

Next Thursday is our annual Sports Day and Family Fun Day event, which will take place on June 13th. This year, we are introducing some changes to the format, and I have emailed parents with details, but you can find out more here: Llangan Primary School - Letters (llanganschool.org.uk)

Outdoor Learning Update: from now on, we will no longer send reminders about bringing wet weather clothing for Outdoor Learning with Mrs Stevens, as the weather has improved. Additionally, Mrs Stevens will be changing her day to accommodate our busy schedule during the last half term of the year.
