Outdoor Learning: #outdoorllangan

Outdoor learning provides powerful opportunities for children to connect their experiences with classroom learning. It stimulates imagination, enriches classwork, and helps pupils develop key skills that prepare them not only for academic success but also for lifelong wellbeing. For us, outdoor learning is not an occasional extra – it is central to our curriculum and lies at the heart of our vision for a nurturing, forward-thinking education at Llangan Primary School. At Llangan Primary School, we place a strong emphasis on pupil wellbeing, outdoor learning, and ensuring that pupil voice actively shapes both our curriculum and wider school development. We are fortunate to have exceptional grounds, including a large garden, open fields, an arboretum, a dedicated nature area, and established forest school spaces. These unique resources allow us to provide rich and varied learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of the outdoors.

Research consistently shows that healthier, happier children achieve more in school. At Llangan, we see daily how learning in outdoor environments supports the development of vital life skills such as problem-solving, resilience, and negotiating risk. Children also build strong interpersonal and social skills, alongside a deeper understanding of sustainability, healthy lifestyles, and respect for the natural world.
