Numbers, Nature & A Special Surprise...

This Wednesday, we celebrated World Maths Day, and what an exciting day it was! Pupils across different age groups took part in the World Maths Competition, competing in live maths games and earning points for every correct answer. We were so proud to see our class scores appear on the World Maths Day platform, and even more thrilled when we made it into the top 100! 🎉🏆

Our love for maths didn’t stop there! We continued our mathematical challenges on Mathletics, reinforcing our skills in a fun and interactive way. In our maths lessons, we focused on recognising and identifying numbers up to 10. We used paper plates to explore number bonds, starting with a whole number on a big plate and splitting it into two smaller plates to see the different ways to make that number. The children enjoyed moving objects between the plates and discovering how numbers can be combined in different ways.

In literacy, we began constructing our endangered animal leaflets, using all the important facts we researched last week. The children have been so engaged in their writing, and we can’t wait to share their hard work with you at our Jump Out event!

We have also loved exploring our new outdoor areas and equipment in the garden. The children have been putting on wonderful performances on our new outdoor stage, building habitats in the construction area, and using a variety of equipment and natural resources to cook up delicious creations in our mud kitchen.

As part of our expressive arts, the children have been getting creative with a special project, carefully designing and making something for the important people in their lives – you might just get a lovely surprise this Sunday! 💐
