28.3.25 - Tyllluan Eira Making Waves in Learning!

An Exciting Week of Learning!
What a fantastic week we’ve had in Tylluan Eira! The children have been working incredibly hard and showing amazing enthusiasm in all areas of their learning. From exploring marine conservation to tackling tricky division problems, they have truly embraced every challenge!
World Maths Day – Mathletics Superstars!
This week, we celebrated World Maths Day with some fantastic challenges on Mathletics. The children competed in exciting games, tested their mental maths skills, and worked collaboratively to improve their scores. We were so impressed with their determination and problem-solving skills – we even had some top scorers in the class! A huge well done to everyone who took part. 🎉👏
Bristol Aquarium Trip – A Deep Dive into Marine Conservation
Our trip to Bristol Aquarium was a truly unforgettable experience! The children took part in the Save Our Seas workshop, where they explored the impact of human activity on marine environments such as coral reefs, mangrove forests, and the open ocean. They were fascinated by the different conservation efforts being made to protect these habitats and even had the chance to witness an exclusive fish feeding experience! 🐠🐢
The workshop on Coral Reefs and Climate Change sparked some brilliant discussions about how we can help protect these fragile ecosystems. The children asked thoughtful questions and made insightful connections to our classroom learning. Their curiosity and enthusiasm made us so proud!
Indoor and Outdoor COOL Learning
Back in school, we have continued our ocean-themed learning through our indoor and outdoor COOL tasks:
-
Maths: We’ve been strengthening our division skills by grouping sea creatures and solving ocean-themed word problems.
-
Writing: The children have been developing their non-chronological reports on marine habitats, using research from our trip to add fascinating facts!
-
Creative Area: Everyone enjoyed designing and measuring their own seagrass models to understand the importance of these vital marine plants.
-
Investigation Area: We carried out a water clarity experiment to explore how pollution affects ocean life.
Outdoors, the children took part in habitat scavenger hunts, relay races, and construction challenges, all linked to marine conservation.
Looking Ahead…
Next week, we will continue our learning about ocean conservation while introducing some new and exciting activities. Keep an eye out for more updates, and don’t forget to check Mathletics at home to keep up the fantastic maths momentum!
Well done to all the children for another brilliant week. Have a great weekend! 😊🌊📚
