23/1/25 - Things are heating up!!!

Exploring Temperature, Storytelling, and the World Around Us!
What a busy week we’ve had in Tylluan Eira! Our learning has been full of exciting discoveries and creative moments. Here’s a roundup of what we’ve been up to:
Numeracy – All About Temperature
This week in Numeracy, we were introduced to the concept of temperature. The children had a great time learning about degrees Celsius and used their knowledge to explore the temperature of different people, objects, and even countries around the world. They were very engaged in comparing temperatures and discussing how the weather affects the world around us.
Literacy – Story Writing and Special Visitor "Gully"
In Literacy, we’ve been focusing on the features of story writing. The children learned about characters, setting, and plot, and they had fun creating their own imaginative stories. A special treat was a visit from "Gully", the character from our model text Stella and the Seagull. The children were absolutely thrilled to meet Gully and discuss how to bring a character to life in their own writing.
Inquiry – The Water Cycle and Food Chains
In Inquiry, we took a deep dive into two fascinating topics: the water cycle and food chains. The children had a blast making food chain mobiles, which are now hanging proudly in our classroom. Their reenactments of the water cycle were a real highlight of the week, with the children acting out the different stages and showing a great understanding of how water moves around our planet.
Welsh – Weather and More Weather!
In Welsh, we’ve continued to focus on the weather. The children have been learning new vocabulary related to the weather and applying it in sentences. It’s been a great way to tie in their understanding of the seasons and daily weather patterns.
Cool Learning Moments:
Some of the coolest learning moments this week were the food chain mobiles the children created and the reenactment of the water cycle. These hands-on activities really helped the children bring their learning to life, and the results have been proudly displayed in the classroom for everyone to see!
We’ve had a fantastic week full of fun and learning, and we can’t wait to see what next week has in store!
