Dosbarth Llwynog: A Busy Week of Singing, Learning, and Exploring!

Shwmae,

What an incredible week it's been for Dosbarth Llwynog! From the excitement of performing at the Young Voices Concert at the O2 Arena in London to our hands-on exploration of green energy and the environment, our class has been buzzing with activity. Here’s a look at all the amazing things we've been up to recently!

A Memorable Choir Visit to the O2 Arena ðŸŽ¤ðŸŽ¶

Half of our talented Year 5 and 6 pupils had the fantastic opportunity to perform at the Young Voices Concert at the O2 Arena in London. After weeks of rehearsing and perfecting our songs, we travelled to the big city and joined hundreds of other pupils from all over the country to sing together. The atmosphere was absolutely electric as we sang our hearts out, with the crowd cheering us on!

The performance was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we couldn't have been more proud of our choir members. Huge thanks to our teachers, Mrs Heavyside and Miss Spiller who helped us prepare for this amazing day – and of course, to everyone who supported us along the way!

Meanwhile, Back in Class...

While the choir was performing on stage, the rest of Dosbarth Llwynog was hard at work back in class, focusing on our learning. In literacy, we were sharpening our grammar skills, making sure we’re all masters of punctuation and sentence structure. We’ve been learning how to write with more precision and detail, paying close attention to how our words come together to make our writing clear and interesting.

In maths, it was all about reasoning and problem-solving! We’ve been tackling tricky problems, working together to figure out how to approach each one, and building our confidence in explaining our thinking. It’s been great to see everyone getting more confident with these challenges, and we’re excited to continue developing our problem-solving skills!

Exploring the Environment ðŸŒ±

In our science and enquiry lessons, we’ve been diving deep into the world of greenhouse gases and our carbon footprints. We’ve been learning about how different activities, from driving cars to using electricity, contribute to climate change, and what we can do to help reduce our environmental impact. We discussed the importance of cutting down on emissions and how small changes in our daily lives can make a big difference.

One of the highlights of our week was our visit to Parc Stormy, where we learnt all about renewable energy sources like wind turbines and solar panels. We saw first hand how these technologies help create clean energy and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. It was inspiring to learn how these green technologies work and how they’re helping to fight climate change.

We also explored how food waste can be recycled into fertiliser, helping to reduce waste and improve sustainability. It was amazing to see how everything is connected in creating a more environmentally friendly world.
