Week Beginning 20th January 2025

Reduse, Reuse, Recycle!
This week in Dosbarth Pili-Pala, we continued with our recycling missions in literacy with sequencing and writing our instruction maps to help Litterbug Doug build our models out of recycled materials. We included bossy words (verbs) in our maps to help Doug know exactly what he needed to do. Inspired by Michael Recycle, we also finished the designs of our very own recycling superheroes to help keep Llangan litter free.
In maths, Reception children explored place value practically using Numicon to help us visualise and better understand tens and ones. Nursery children worked hard to practise one-to-one correspondence using Numicon and pom poms as visual aids.
During our inquiry sessions, we began learning about habitats by watching a short clip from David Attenborough’s Our Planet. Following discussions with our 'talking partners,' we created a KWH grid to map what we already know about habitats, what we’d like to discover, and how we can find answers to our questions. Next week, our habitat focus will be on the ocean.
This week, we’ve also been focusing on respect. To deepen our understanding, the children created 'respect flowers,' thinking about how flowers grow strong and healthy and comparing this to how we can help each other grow strong and happy. Together, we identified meaningful ways to show respect and kindness to everyone ❤️
