Welcome to this week’s edition of the Llangan School Newsletter! We’ve had an eventful time with exciting achievements, new initiatives, and upcoming events to share with you. From our girls’ fantastic performance at the Urdd Football Tournament to our nursery wrap-around care updates, there’s plenty happening at Llangan. As we prepare for Remembrance Day and look ahead to the Christmas season, we’re thrilled to celebrate our students' hard work, teamwork, and dedication. Read on for the latest school news and upcoming dates to note—thank you, as always, for your continued support!
Urdd Football Tournament Success What a fantastic day for our girls' football team at the Urdd tournament in Cardiff! Girls from Years 5 and 6 competed with schools from across the region, playing five hard-fought games with scores of 0-0, 0-0, 1-1, 0-0, and one 3-0 loss. But they finished strong with a well-earned 1-0 win! We are incredibly proud of Team Llangan for their dedication and teamwork.
Remembrance Day Poppies for Sale Our Head Girl, Head Boy, and deputies have been busy selling poppies this week in preparation for Remembrance Day. Poppies will be available again on Friday and Monday, November 11th. Items and prices:
- Snap bands: £1.50
- Fabric bands: £1

Open Day Success On Wednesday, we welcomed prospective parents for our school Open Day. Our lead pupils took the reins, guiding families on tours of the school and showcasing all that Llangan has to offer.
Tag Rugby Tournament On Friday, our Year 6 pupils joined other schools in our cluster for a tag rugby tournament in Colwinston. They represented Llangan brilliantly while getting to know future classmates for secondary school.
Llangan Childcare Provision Update We’re excited to announce plans for an on-site childcare provision for Nursery-aged pupils, allowing them to stay at school from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. Our application for Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) registration is pending, and we aim to open in January 2025. The wrap-around care, led by experienced staff, will include exploratory play and access to school facilities. We’re also working with the Vale of Glamorgan Childcare Offer and Tax-Free Childcare schemes for additional support. We’ll keep you updated!
