Week Beginning 30th September 2024

Once Upon a Time in Brocastle

This week, we had the special opportunity to visit a local care home as part of our “Once Upon a Time” inquiry. The children were excited to share traditional tales they have been learning, and sing our Makaton Harvest song. We have been very busy in class making shortbread biscuits for the residents - which they said were absolutely delicious! In our literacy lessons this week, we prepared thoughtful questions to ask the residents about their past as well as their thoughts on traditional tales. The children asked about the stories they loved when they were little, what life was like growing up, and how things might be different now. We discovered that the residents like a lot the same stories as we do.

The residents and staff were thrilled by our visit, and it was a meaningful experience for all involved. We are so proud of the impeccable behaviour and beautiful manners of all the children - da iawn Pili-Pala!
